SEA TOW FT. LAUDERDALE GIVES AWAY LIFEJACKETS
The “Wear It, Life Jackets for Life Saving” 2010 tour, being promoted throughout the state of Florida, was a huge success this May 27th, 2010 at the Alsdorf Park boat ramps, in Pompano Beach Florida. The U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish & Wildlife, Sea Tow Ft. Lauderdale and other local Broward County vendors came together to promote safe boating by wearing lifejackets. On display were the Coast Guard and FWC vessels, the Coast Guard boater’s safety educational trailer, which displayed safety equipment such as several styles of life jackets, EPIRB’s, life rings and flares and there was even two fly-overs by the Coast Guard rescue helo during the opening ceremonies and blessing of the boats. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Power Squadron members were on hand, passing out free refreshments, teaching people how a vessel safety inspection is completed, while moms, dads and teens took a safe boating test at the Sea Tow Ft. Lauderdale booth, walking away with a free lifejacket for their participation. Sea Tow Ft. Lauderdale gave away (21) lifejackets which were made available through Sea Tow’s Foundation for Boating Safety and Education. Captain Tim Morgan, Vice President of Sea Tow Ft. Lauderdale, stated “boating safety education is the key to helping boaters be safe on the water and we look forward to participating in future events such as this, to help educate the boating public.”
