SHRED YOU IDENTITY
THEFT WORRIES AWAY!
Don’t leave a shred of your personal documents
at the fingertips of criminals…Shred them away!
Following a very successful year of Shred-A-Thons in 2008, where more than 49,000 pounds of documents were shredded, the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Florida Attorney General are committed to continue helping residents fight identity theft by inviting them to shred their old documents.
There’s a Shred-A-Thon scheduled at a city near you:
Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon
June 27: BSO District Office, 5399 North Dixie Hwy., Oakland Park
July 25: Pompano Beach City Hall 100 West Atlantic Blvd. Pompano Beach
Aug. 29: Dania Beach City Hall 100 West Dania Beach Blvd. Dania Beach
Sept. 12: BSO Weston District Office 17300 Royal Palm Blvd. Weston
The Shred-A-thon events began in Broward County in May 2008 as a joint initiative by Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti and the Office of the Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, with the assistance of UNISHRED and The National Association of TRIADS.
The Shred-A-thon provides residents with a safe way to dispose of their personal documents, check stubs, credit card offers, receipts and any other material that might contain sensitive data.
The service is free of charge. There is a limit of five boxes of documents per person.
