After months of fundraising, 38 Relay for Life teams, comprised of more than 600 BSO employees, are ready to lace up their sneakers and hit the pavement as they walk day and night in solidarity against this dreadful disease.
In this first ever BSO Relay for Life, the agency set out to raise $35,000 but far exceeded the goal by raising more than three times as much! The fundraiser has received more than $127,000 in donations for the American Cancer Society so far, and more continues to trickle in.
“I’m humbled and deeply touched by the extraordinary effort and generosity of the men and women of this agency,” said Sheriff Al Lamberti. “I know first hand that this isn’t a losing battle and every penny we raise brings us closer to finding a cure.”
Inspired by the theme “Cancer doesn’t take a Holiday,” Relay for Life participants will have at least one person from each team walking along the track during the 14 hours of the event.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a Survivor Ceremony and Dinner, and then the walking will begin! The afternoon and night will be filled with themed events including entertainment for the kids, music, dancing, games and much more.
