SYLVESTER STALLONE LIVED HERE…..

BC- In every movie-TV show the beautiful starlet with fantasies of stardom got off the bus…and paid a few bucks for the map to take the “tour”….and see how the movie stars lived….hoping to be on that map one day herself….

Well, now the AIG bonus recipients….are now on their own “Bonus” map…..and the tour bus riders…are not envious in the quite the same way….

It just seems so wrong!

March 21, 2009 by Barbara

COME ON….IT’S A STRETCH….

BC- The “lollipop” heads…started in 2005 when the size of the female star’s heads looked enormous atop their emaciated bodies…

Being a “Saving Grace” fan…Holly Hunter rough and tumble…..a 40 something “Tomboy”…It worked..with character actors that enhanced her edginess…But with this season’s guest Cristina Ricci…OOPS…It’s just silly these two “police women” all of 4 ft something tall women who suddenly look like “lollipop” Olsen twins with a gun…OUCH!…Surprise Tom Jicha wasn’t all over this one…

42 Years Later…

March 21, 2009 by Barbara

HERE HE COMES….WALKIN’ DOWN THE STAGE….

BC- Here at Disney World…for the Flower & Garden Show…and who should we see…the guy that graced this 12 year old girl’s bedroom walls…The guy four 6th grade girls fought over …that Halloween…deciding who would be “Davy” as we wore our Monkee shirts…( remember those with the double buttons?) and walked from one end of town to another singing the Monkee’s “Here we come” intro….

From the looks of those who sat in the packed female audience today…there were a lot of those memories flooding back!..

Davy Jones performed a 45 minute set…all the old favorites…all the “old” jokes….and lots of showmanship…

Disney parks are not quite as full as usual…no big surprise…..in these times….

Online write-up….

‘The stars from the 60’s & 70’s who are coming to Disney World’s Epcot to perform during the International Flower & Garden Festival have been announced for 2009. Each year one of the highlights of the festival is the collection of musical stars who perform.

Weekends during the festival there are 3 free performances nightly ( 5:15 pm, 6:30pm, & 7:45) in the Americas Garden Theater in the World Showcase. Seating is based on a first come first serve basis, but their are usually always seats available for most performances.

This year Flower Power concert veteran Davy Jones, best known for being part of the TV group the Monkees, will be kicking things off on March 20th.’

OPTIMISTIC PREDICTIONS…

KEN KAYE”S LOOKING AHEAD…..

‘Joe Bastardi has come out with a somewhat optimistic forecast for the 2009 hurricane season.

As AccuWeather.com’s chief hurricane forecaster, he calls for four tropical systems to “impact” the U.S. coast, including three hurricanes, with one of those being major.

But overall, he’s calling for a total of 13 named storms, including eight hurricanes, with two of those being major.

Further, Bastardi thinks Atlantic storms will form closer to the U.S. coastline than they did last year. That would imperil the Mid Atlantic and Northeast coastline more so than Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, as shown in the AccuWeather graphic at right.

Bastardi’s reasoning:

– La Niña will dissipate.

– An increase in Saharan dust and dry air will hamper storms in the Atlantic.

– Water temperatures in the deep tropical Atlantic will cool a bit.

.Bastardi’s track record and found his seasonal forecasts in the past few years have been all told, spotty.
Keep in mind: Unlike other forecasters – government and private included – Bastardi predicts a specific number of U.S. strikes. That’s pretty daring.’

BC- Pick your favorite bank robber…

‘Calm and quiet’ robber strikes Bank of America

In a matter of minutes, a man walked into a Lighthouse Point bank on Monday, robbed the place and strolled out, Lighthouse Point police said.

The robbery took place about 3:45 p.m. at the Bank of America branch at 2850 N. Federal Hwy., police spokesman Cmdr. Mike Oh said. The man walked in, stood in line and, when he reached the teller, handed over a note, Oh said.

The teller turned over the cash, and the robber walked out.

”Most of the customers didn’t even know what happened,” Oh said. “It was very calm and quiet’

GOVERNMENT JOBS….

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Hathery/ThickNMeaty.jpg

‘Florida taxpayers could save at least $304 million if the Legislature cut every state worker’s salary by about 5 percent, according to an analysis produced by the state Senate.

Senate budget chief JD Alexander confirmed Monday that staffers have analyzed a variety of pay-cut scenarios to help legislators figure ways to fill a budget deficit that could reach $3 billion next fiscal year.

Under the pay-cut analysis, a 1 percent reduction to all state workers, including university system employees, would produce an annual savings of about $60.7 million. A 5 percent cut would result in $303.4 million in savings.

Democrats and unions look ready to oppose the measure. Democratic Rep. Scott Randolph of Orlando said state workers haven’t had a pay raise for three years, making a pay cut especially cruel in these tough times.

“This is the first I’m hearing of it. And I’m not favorably inclined to that,” Gov. Charlie Crist said.

“Access Means Better Government”…

WHAT A CONCEPT…….

This undated photo, supplied by the Governor’s Office, shows Pat Gleason, director of Cabinet Affairs & Special Counsel on Open Government for Florida Gov.Charlie Crist. (AP Photo/Executive Office of the Governor)

‘Three decades later, Gleason had become a special counsel to Gov. Charlie Crist on open-government issues and was widely recognized as one of Florida’s top experts on public meetings and records.

But in 2007, she became disheartened that some attorneys wanted to expand the power of local government boards to hold closed-door meetings to discuss legal matters. She wrote an article for a Florida Bar publication criticizing the idea.

”Shouldn’t the people have a right to expect that closed meetings held to discuss how to spend their money are limited and restricted in scope?” she wrote.

For Gleason, the article reflected part of her basic view after more than 30 years of studying open-government issues, giving advice and mediating disputes: Government is more accountable and effective when it is open to citizens.

”The public should be welcome at the door because they make government do a better job,” Gleason said during a recent interview in her Capitol office.’

BC- Ms. Gleason was the go- to “guru” that this writer spoke to when hit with a bogus “Sunshine’ violation…that never went beyond an “excuse” to throw me off the LBTS P & Z Board…courtesy of those who thought I would not be fair in making decisions on the dais…although my voting record in my brief time up there proved otherwise…

Ms. Gleason said while she could not render an opinion….she saw no Sunshine violation…and encouraged me to contact the then LBTS Town Atty…( that’s a whole other story)…She was most helpful and keenly interested in how it all panned out…It petered out…I was ceremoniously thrown off the board…The accusations quickly died away…And a SLAPP suit that was an “off shoot” of the trumped up charges…also went nowhere…due to it having no merit…It was just a scare tactic used to muzzle ….with an assist from the Florida League of Cities who provide legal counsel for all advisory and elected officials…..facing these sorts of situations…
